These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Recontact’s mobile application and website (collectively, the "Services"). By installing, accessing, or using the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Mobile Application Terms

1.1. Nature of the App

Recontact is a local-only contact management and caller identification tool. It operates on a "Zero-Knowledge" architecture:

  • Local Processing: All data processing (contact storage, call identification, notification parsing) happens exclusively on your device.
  • No Cloud Sync: Recontact does not upload your personal data to any external servers.
  • Data Ownership: You retain full ownership and control of your data. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all local data associated with it.

1.2. App Permissions & Usage

To function, the app requires specific permissions:

  • Caller ID & Spam App Role: You grant Recontact permission to screen calls to identify callers.
  • Contacts Access: You grant Recontact permission to access your local address book for identification purposes.
  • Notification Access: You grant Recontact permission to read notification metadata (sender name/number) from supported messaging apps.
  • Overlay & Notifications: You grant Recontact permission to display identity information over other apps and post local alerts.
  • Prohibited Conduct: You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app's code or security mechanisms.

1.3. User Responsibilities

  • Data Security: Since data is stored locally, you are responsible for the physical security of your device and for backing up your data.
  • Lawful Use: You agree to use Recontact only for lawful purposes. You must not use the app to harass, stalk, or violate the privacy of others.

2. Website Terms (recontact.matsco.de)

2.1. Website Usage

  • Content: The content on our website is for informational purposes only.
  • Early Access Program: If you sign up for early access, you agree to receive communications regarding the program. Access is granted at our discretion.
  • Analytics: We use third-party analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to improve our website. By using the website, you consent to this data collection as described in our Privacy Policy.

2.2. Intellectual Property

  • Ownership: All text, graphics, logos, and software on the website are the property of Recontact or its licensors and are protected by copyright laws.

3. General Terms

3.1. Disclaimers

  • "As Is" Basis: The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will identify every call or message correctly.
  • No Emergency Services: Recontact is not a replacement for your phone's native dialer for emergency calls (e.g., 911/112).

3.2. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recontact shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services, including loss of data due to device failure or app uninstallation.

3.3. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Recontact from any claims arising out of your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Services.

3.4. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
